Do You Choose the Excuse or the Excuse?

Most people want to become a better person. Most people want to be more productive. Most people want to be healthier. Most people want to live a richer, fuller life.

Start

But most people only want those things. Most people don’t do anything about it.

Most people make excuses.

When I started my business, I knew there was no way I could do it without a partner.  Even after my business partner and I parted ways, I had to sell part of the business to someone else because I couldn’t handle everything on my own.

Seven years ago, Taryn was 30 lbs heavier than she is now. You could often hear Taryn saying things like, “Eating healthy is just too hard in our society.” or “It costs too much money to eat healthy.”

You can read and learn everything there is about self-improvement, being more productive, being healthier, and living a fuller life. But if you don’t do anything with it, the information is worthless.

When it comes to being “Better Today Than Yesterday and Better Tomorrow Than Today”, you have two choices.

1. You can find the excuse not to do something.

OR

2. You can find the excuse to do something.

That’s it really. It’s all up to you. Which option do you choose? Do you choose number 2? Prove it.

Taryn remains 30 lbs lighter than she was 7 years ago. I’ve been the sole owner of my business for over 10 years now.  The only things that changed between then and now are the excuses we used. Now the excuses are, “I can’t afford to not eat healthy” and “I can do this without a partner”.

Inaction breeds doubt and fear. Action breeds confidence and courage. If you want to conquer fear, do not sit home and think about it. Go out and get busy. – Dale Carnegie

If you want to conquer anything, you have to go out and get busy. You have to find the reason to start.

The next time you’re presented with an opportunity to improve yourself, to be more productive, to be healthier, or to live a fuller life make and excuse to do it. Find a reason to start.

Don’t worry about getting things perfect. You don’t have to be perfect. You just have to start.
